My Organized Stampin Room

This has been a project that I've been wanting to undertake forever.  About 6 months ago, I had my room all set up and it was okay, (I posted pictures way back when on here.)  It just never quiet sat right for me.  So this past week I just had to re-arrange everything.  It doesn't hurt either that I took my daughters DSI away a month or so ago and I put it somewhere "safe" and now can't find it!  I decided that was the perfect thing to get me to re-arrange my space and see if maybe it was in here "safe".  So, here's the pictures of my room.  I would love to put it on video, cause I really like taking tours of peoples space, but since I can't figure out how to take it off my camera and put it on here, pictures will have to do.

Here's the view from my door way.  Looking straight ahead.

This is the view turning right a little bit.

We're still turning right.
This is right behind the door to the right.

I've got a ton more pictures, I wasn't sure which ones would be the most interesting.  Anyway, I always love watching the video's people post of their scrap rooms.  It's nice seeing where someone is working, I'd love to see your space too!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Masking technique

This months technique for my swap group is masking..  You can find the technique step by step here.    I've never done it before and I admit I struggled with this one.  Not so much the technique, but coming up with a card.  Having never done it before I wasn't sure which stamp set would work the best.  I'm really happy with how my card turned out, and masking is pretty fun.  it's super simple and just makes a nice look.  What do you think?  I'd love to see some of your posts with the masking technique used.  Thanks for stopping by and as always I love comments.  Oh, and for those of you who've asked how my 5-10-15 event went, I've posted pictures, you just need to scroll down a couple of posts.  It's funny, I disappear for a week and then I come back with post after post.  I had a lot to make up for.  By the way, this is a sale-a-brations stamp set that I got.  FREE!!  If your interested, it's only going until March.  Every $50 you spend get's you a free stamp set, paper, or buttons.  Very, very cute stuff this year.

By the way, I have just entered this card in the SUO challenges.  I love this stamp set, and the fact that it was free, well that just makes it so much better.

St. Patricks Day

I've gotta get my swaps out in the mail Tuesday, so I've just started working on them of course today.  I love how this card turned out.  I got the original idea here.  I'm not too big on St. Patricks day, I never send out cards, or do anything except maybe wear green, (my kids will pinch if I don't.)  This is entirely out of my comfort zone.  I don't even own 1 single stamp set that's Saint Patricks.  So this card was great cause I could do it without owning anything just for Saint Patty's day.  Anyhow, I'd love to know what  you think, and see what you've come up with.  Thanks for looking.
Oh, and just cause I looked at my picture again, I realized that I fibbed.  I didn't knowingly purchase any St. P day stamps.  One of the stamp sets that I used is from the Sale-a-brations stamp set "So Happy for You."  It just happened to have a clover in it.  LOL.

I've been away for a week or so, I've been re-doing my stamp room.  I think it's finally the way I can live with for a bit.  At least until the next bug bites that tells me I just don't like it.  I'll post pics soon cause I can't figure out how to load my videos.  Anyway, I'm off to check on my sick kids.  Yucky stomach bug has hit our home.

OWH

Last night my friend Kathy and I were able to do some more cards for this great cause, Operation Write Home. It's always such a nice feeling as we're working so hard to make nice cards and knowing that it's all worth it because a soldier who is seperated from his/her family will be able to take this and write a heart felt message for his/her family, spouse, child, parent. I know how much I loved getting a personal letter from my hunny when he was over seas, and to get a beautiful card along with his words would of been amazing! I LOVE this cause. Here's the card we did.

The inside is my favorite part. We stamped the sentiment, "you're never more than a thought away." I think it's such a nice sentiment. We did case this card, and you can see the original here.

Now, I need to give some shout outs! First I'd like to thank Hill Chiropractic for their generosity. They donated our envelopes for our cards. So thank you!! By the way, he's also my chiropractor and he is great! He's really friendly and knows what he's doing. So if you need one, check his site out! Secondly, I would like to thank Office Depot (in West Valley) for giving us the envelopes at a discount price. They were very kind when we told them that we were doing cards for OWH and gladly gave us a discount on the envelopes. So thank you wonderful people for your contribution, and of course Kathy for helping me get cards made.

As always thank you all for stopping by! :)

Here's what happened...

Last night was my 5-10-15 event. It went well, except in typical Yolanda fashion, all of my prep work went out the window. I changed almost all of my cards. I didn't like the originals when it came right down to prepping the stuff. So, these are the actual cards we ended up doing.
This cupcake green one is the exact same one as the original one I had planned on doing, I just changed it from the Chocolate Chip base because I completely spaced ordering more chocolate chip paper.  I like the way it turned out though.
This card is using entirely sale-a-bration stuff.  The paper, the stamp, the ribbon, and the buttons.  Now, I have to say that this card was cased.  I just have no idea where I saw it.  As soon as I find the original link, I will be posting that.  I'm sorry!
The other two cards passed my scrutiny test.  So what do you think of these new cards?  I really liked them much better than my originals.

So, as promised here's pictures of my event BEFORE people arrived.
I had this idea that if I bought 5 of those clear boxes I could organize each of the accessories the cards need and stay organized that way.  It did work, but I realized that some of the stuff in one box I still needed for another card.  I still say the idea was pretty good.
Here are my yummy cupcakes.  I am not a big chocolate fan, I love the vanilla, so I was surprised to see that the chocolate one's went very quickly.  I'm glad I thought outside my own little box.
I'm still figuring things out as I go.  I realized only after we had finished the cards, that I had them only do one card and they were suppose to do two of each.  Thankfully, I had a few friends that came just to visit and I put them to work assembling cards, I thought I'd have a bunch for OWH.  It turns out that it was good because I owed them each 5 more cards.  DA!!  Like I said, I'm still figuring this out.  I'm thankful I have such a good group of friends that are so supportive and understanding.  Over all I think it was a great night.  I always love getting together with ladies and doing what I love!  Thanks for stopping by!

OWH challenge

I came across OWH's blog and they are having a challenge to make masculine cards that the soldiers can send home to their brothers, fathers, sons, etc.  So I decided that my birthday card that I'm doing at my 5-10-15 class would be great!  So now it's serving several purposes.  1. My class, and 2.  I'm gonna make extras and include them in my box for OWH.  YA!!
You can get in on this challenge here.  It's such a great cause, and it's really not hard to do something that we all LOVE.  How great is it to do something you love and actually can be so comforting and nice to others.  It's a win, win.

Choo choo

My first time using this set.  I was pressed for time as I had to have a card today for a baby shower, and haven't had any time to do it.  So this card is cased.  You can see the original one here.  I really like how it turned out and for an excuse to use this cute stamp set that I've just had sitting around forever.

Can you say procrastinator...

Wow, where has the time gone?  It's already time for my second stamp club to meet.  I felt I was doing pretty good getting things ready, and then suddenly it's Friday, and it's time to host my club, and I didn't know what on earth I wanted to do.  Thankfully, the kids are at school and the little one is playing with her dad, so I was able to come up with this...
I have never used my letter press plate, so this was very new too me, but I really like how it turned out.  I used versa-mark.  It's a very simple card, but I really like how it looks.

Next, I wanted to do a bag or some kinda treat for my gals to put treats in and maybe they would keep them, but if they wanted then they had a gift to give away.   I saw this cupcake treat box, and decided with a little tweaking, I could do a Valentines themed one.   SO here is my version of the "cupcake treat box."
There you have it, my two projects for tonight.  I sure hope the gals like it.  Like I said, this is only my second meeting, and I want the ladies to really like what their doing and feel like it's worth their time.  Several of them drive 45-60 minutes to get here.

Here's the projects together, now had I been smart, I would of color coordinated, but I didn't have enough red.  Oh well, I still really like how these turned out.   As always, I love your comments!  Thanks ladies!!

Valentines treats

These are the treats that I made for my club gals.  I used the Valentine Defined stamp set, and my new glitter paper, and my new DSP Love Impressions paper.  I thought I'd never get to pull these out.  Oh, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to see that the glitter paper came with two, not just one in a pack.  I thought I was gonna have to hoard it.  (I hate to part with my really nice stuff.  I know it doesn't make sense.)  I really like how they turned out.  Let me know what you think.  I saw these on a fellow bloggers blog and I LOVE how they turned out, but of course, it's the one treat cup stamp set  I don't have, but you have to see what she came up with.
Here's a close up.  As always ladies, I love comments!! Thanks for stopping by.

Finally...the Owl Punch

I finally got to use my Owl punch.  It's such a cute punch.  I LOVE everything I've seen using it.  A very dear friend is having a birthday tomorrow and I wanted to make a special card.  It has taken me ALL day to do it,
but I think it's turned out great.  I really like it.

Here's part of the reason it took me all day to do it.  Isn't she just a cutie.  I think it just makes the card look so much nicer!

Here's the inside of the card.  It's very simple, but I think it finishes the card.
Now before I get a comment on the fact that I need to re-ink my chocholate chip ink, my little one insisted on doing it "myself".  So I had to let her help.

Now, I saw on a tutorial somewhere awhile back when I was playing around with google, how to do scallops.  I thought it was really smart, and so simple, and a "why didn't I think of that" moment hit me.  So here is how I did the scallops around my big circle.

Simple ha?  Anyway, thanks as always for looking and I'd love to know what you think.  Thanks!

The final card

I have thought and thought about the final card for my 5-10-15 event, and I decided that I would like to do this card.

I really wanted to do one more truly masculine card.  I made a very similar card to this for my brothers birthday a couple of months ago, and I really liked how it turned out, so I thought why the heck not.  I have 4 packs of this DSP paper left, unopened, and I love the stamp set.  So, I think this will be the final card for my five different cards that I needed to come up with for the Birthday Event.  As always, I love your feedback.  Thanks!

OWH cards

I made these cards when I first started SU.  I had no idea what I was doing and wasn't sure I liked the cards much, so I put them away and forgot about them.  I came across them today and decided to stick them onto white card stock and finish them with the intention of adding them to my OWH cards.  I for some reason like them now.  I'm excited to be adding to my stash for this great cause too.  WOOHOO!

I'm paying it forward

A week ago Monday I was checking out some of my favorite blogs and stumbled across one that had my name in it and an award.  I was surprised.  I wasn't going to do anything about it, and then I decided that I needed to keep it going.  SO... with that said, here is my over due post.

I received this award from Penny Hanuszak.  Thank you so much Penny, I was very surprised, I've just really started out on this blog journey and feel like there is still so much I need to learn.  I appreciate the vote of confidence though.  So, as part of receiving this award the recipient must share 8 random things about themselves and then pass the award along to 8 other deserving bloggers!  Here are my random things.

1.  I married my high school sweet heart and we've been married 10 years now with 3 beautiful children.  I'm hoping for one more.
2.  I love to write, mostly poems, but I don't share them.
3.  I love sugary sweets, but not so much chocolate.
4.  Until this year I hated yogurt.  I don't know what changed.
5.  I LOVE to read, once I find a good book I can't put it down.  So I can't start a book unless I know I can dedicate lots of time to just reading.
6.  I HATE putting away laundry.  I don't mind loading it, or folding it, but I just can't put it away.
7.  I clean my house when I'm angry.  Deep clean, spotless.
8.  I'm hoping to go back to school and be a social worker.  I use to want to be an Elementary school teacher, but now I feel very passionate about being a social worker and still helping children.

Now, for the 8 people I chose.  This was a hard choice because I've come across so many creative people, and this is honestly why I've taken so long to pass on the award.  Some of the ladies blogs that I love had already received the award, so I wanted to pass it on to some new people who's blogs  are also amazing.

1.  Shari Winterstein
2.  Bree
3.  Eileen Lang
4.  Karla Anders
5.  Nita Kauffman
6.  Crystal Rancourt
7.  Terry Blais
8.  Amy

Check those blogs out and let them know I sent you.  Thanks again ladies, and thank you Penny for thinking of me.  It's so nice to know that people do stop by, and thank  you everyone for sharing your talents.
